The Perfect Combination - Polos & Chinos
Posted on 12 May 2017
Are polos and chinos the perfect match? We think so. The versatile combination can be worn all year round and can be styled in an abundance of different looks. Whatever image you are aiming to achieve, Asquith & Fox are here to help!
Dress up your polo and chinos with a pair of formal leather loafers or trusty brogues (make sure to wear invisible socks or none at all!). Tucking your polo shirt in to your chinos instantly creates a neater appearance. Stay clear of bright colours with your polo and instead stick to muted soft tones as this will give you a sharper and more formal image - you can’t go wrong with white, navy or black! For a smart look, we suggest a slim fit chino, and why not pair with a complimenting Asquith & Fox woven belt? Complete your outfit with a blazer and perhaps a classic leather watch.
A polo shirt is great as a throw on day to day. When dressing down, don’t be afraid to stand out from the crowd and select a brightly coloured polo shirt such as turquoise or sunflower. Alternatively, if you’re feeling confident, pink tones are bang on trend this season (take a look at our “in the pink” collection)! Wear your polo half unbuttoned for a more relaxed look. To style your chinos, simply roll the hems up a couple of times, letting a small amount of ankle show – We recommend the classic chino for a more casual fit. Leave your polo shirt untucked and style with a pair of trainers and a staple bomber jacket.
Well, evidently for a smart-casual look, you need to aim for somewhere in between the previous two options! Try tucking your polo shirt in to slim fit chinos, and pair with a matching woven belt. For your feet, we recommend a pair of suede loafers or smart style trainers.
The preppy culture has adopted a very nautical, clean cut image. To sport a preppy look, we recommend wearing the twin tipped polo shirt buttoned up, tucked in to a pair of rolled up chinos. Try matching the colour of the tip to your belt or chinos for a stylish and coordinated finish.
